Service Description
This comprehensive 6 hour course is designed for those who want to learn to sew their own garments, or improve their dressmaking skills using a commercial pattern of your choice. First we will learn to take accurate body measurements and choose a pattern size. You will then learn to understand pattern markings, such as grainlines and notches, place your pattern on your fabric and cut out your pieces. You will then be guided through the pattern instructions while you construct your garment, and taught the skills required for completion. I will send an email with help and advice about choosing your pattern and fabric, and am always happy to offer help with selection once you have narrowed down your choices. Drinks are available at the studio. Food is not provided, so please bring any snacks or meals you require. Stockport Centre is less than 10 minute walk away, and there are pubs and restaurants in the immediate area. Getting here: Kingston House is well located both for public transport and driving. It is a 5 minute drive from junction 1 of the M60 and there is a car park at the studios. It is less than a 10 minute walk from both Stockport train and bus stations. The studio is on the first floor of the building and the toilet is on the ground floor. I can assist with carrying bags/machines, but please note that there is no lift. Please feel free to call me to discuss any mobility concerns. photography credit to lewis@withlove.studio
